Chen Wei-yin strolled through eight shutout innings as the first-place Chunichi Dragons defeated the Hiroshima Carp for the 10th straight time, 10-1 on Tuesday.

Chen (12-10) scattered seven hits and walked one as the Dragons moved a season-high 18 games over .500.

Masahiro Araki and Masahiko Morino drove in three runs each for Chunichi, which had 17 hits.

Satoshi Nagai (9-10) pitched his first shutout of the season for the victory.

The Fighters, who managed only four hits off Nagai, were blanked for the second straight game.

At Osaka's Kyocera Dome, Chihiro Kaneko (16-7) won his 12th consecutive start to collect his PL-leading 16th victory as Orix ended Seibu's three-game winning streak.

Kaneko held the Lions to two runs in seven innings, giving up five hits.

Mitsutaka Goto and Alex Cabrera each had a solo home run for Orix, which stopped a two-game skid.
