Ishikawa moves into tie for second

Ryo Ishikawa climbed into a three-way tie for second by matching the day’s best score with a 5-under 66 in the second round of the Tsuruya Open on Saturday.

The 18-year-old had five birdies without a bogey to reach 6-under 136, four shots behind leader Hiroyuki Fujita at Yamanohara Golf Club in Hyogo Prefecture.

Ishikawa, who missed the cut at the season-opening Token Homemate Cup last week, highlighted his round with three consecutive birdies from the 15th hole.

Fujita also shot a 66. Kaname Yokoo (66) and Toru Taniguchi (69) joined Ishikawa in second heading into Sunday’s final round.

Overnight leader Daisuke Maruyama dropped into a share of fifth at 5 under after a 73.

Yuta Ikeda had a 76 and missed the cut by five strokes.
