Kashima Antlers have decided to make a request that manager Oswaldo Oliveira continue at the helm next year, team sources said Monday.

Formal talks will begin after the J. League season concludes on Oliveira's 59th birthday on Dec. 5 but the Brazilian appears set to lead Kashima for a fourth year next season.

Oliveira guided Antlers to two second consecutive league title after taking over in 2007 and Kashima currently tops the standings.

Kashima, which has booked a spot in next season's Asian Champions League, has 60 points with two rounds left to play, two points clear of Kawasaki Frontale with Gamba Osaka three points back.

"He is always battling in the title race and helped the team book a spot in the Asian Champions League," said one high-ranking team official.
