MOSCOW (Kyodo) Judoka Misato Nakamura, a Beijing Olympic bronze medalist, secured the 52-kg title with a win over Russia's Natalia Kuzyutina at the Grand Slam Moscow meet Saturday.

Two other Japanese women were victorious on the opening day of the event, with Tomoko Fukumi beating South Korean Chung Jung Yeon in the 48-kg final and Kaori Matsumoto defeating Hungary's Hedvig Karakas in the 57-kg final. Yoshie Ueno lost to France's Marielle Pruvost in the 63-kg final.

In men's action, Masaaki Fukuoka toppled countryman Hiroaki Hiraoka en route to booking a final berth at 60 kg with Hovhannes Davtyan but had to settle for second place after suffering a defeat at the hands of the Armenian.
