CHIBA – Chie Arimura closed with a 2-under 70 on Sunday for a three-shot victory at the Crystal Geyser Ladies and her second career title.
The 21-year-old Arimura made five birdies and two bogeys to finish the tournament at 9-under 207 at Keiyo Country Club.
Arimura cited a par save on the par-4 14th hole as a key factor in her first win since the Promise Ladies last June. She missed the green with her second shot, but hit an exquisite chip from about 20 yards to set up the par.
“That was a huge par save. My practice really paid off,” Arimura said.
She followed with a two-putt birdie on the par-5 15th and closed out her round with another birdie.
“When I first won last year, I thought the second win would come sometime soon. But it was a long, tough road from there. I want to be a perennial title contender,” Arimura said.
