HIROSHIMA (Kyodo) Naoki Tsukahara beat Beijing Olympic bronze-winning 100-meter relay teammate Shinji Takahira to win the men’s 100 meters at the Oda Memorial athletics meet Wednesday.

Tsukahara crossed the finish line at Hiroshima Big Arch in 10.17 seconds and Takahira followed second in 10.20, both bettering the world championships qualifying standard of 10.21 set by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations.

The one-day meet was a selection event for the world championships in Berlin in August.
