YOKOHAMA (Kyodo) Beijing Olympic silver medalist Maki Tsukada clinched a record eighth consecutive title at the women's national judo championship on Sunday.

Tsukada beat Sae Nakazawa with an "osotogari" tripping technique in the final at the open-category tournament which doubles as a qualifier for over 78-kg class for the world championships in Rotterdam in August.

She was selected by the All Japan Judo Federation for a berth at the worlds for the fourth time after her ippon win at Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium.
