MELUN, France (Kyodo) Beijing Olympic individual foil silver medalist Yuki Ota rebounded from a disappointing performance in the elite Fleuret Masters by winning the Melun Challenge Revenue on Sunday.

Ota beat Olympic champion Benjamin Kleibrink 15-13 to gain revenge for his defeat to the German in the final at last summer's Beijing Games.

"I haven't won a tournament for a while so victory felt good," said Ota, who joined the 110-man tournament from the second round before winning through to the final.

"I never imagined I would meet Kleibrink in the final but he wasn't really at his best," added the 23-year-old.

Victory came a day after Ota lost his opening match against three-time world champion Peter Joppich of Germany at the Fleuret Masters, which features the world's best eight fencers.
