Soccer midfielder Aya Miyama will join the Los Angeles Sol of the U.S.-based Women’s Professional Soccer league set to commence this spring, soccer sources said Wednesday.
The Sol picked Miyama, the 24-year-old Okayama Yunogo Belle player who helped Japan to a fourth-place finish at last summer’s Beijing Olympics, in the second round of the WPS international draft last September. A dead-ball specialist, Miyama has scored 19 goals in 68 matches for Japan.
Last month, fellow midfielder Homare Sawa left NTV Beleza to join the Washington Freedom, another WPS team.
