Takuro Fujii set a national record in winning the men’s 100-meter butterfly at the Tokyo swimming championships Sunday.

Fujii touched the wall in 51.28 seconds at Tokyo Tatsumi International Swimming Center, shaving 0.05 off the previous mark set by Kohei Kawamoto last September in Oita Prefecture.

The 23-year-old finished sixth in the discipline at the Beijing Olympics.
