OITA (Kyodo) Oita Trinita has extended the loan of midfielder Akihiro Ienaga from Gamba Osaka until the end of January 2010, the Nabisco Cup champion said Thursday.
The 22-year-old Ienaga missed the Beijing Olympics with a cruciate ligament injury and was limited to four league appearances for Oita last year.
English second-division club Plymouth Argyle had been looking to sign Ienaga but had a work permit turned down and failed to get that decision overturned by a Football Association appeal panel sitting in Birmingham earlier this month.
Ienaga impressed Plymouth after spending 10 days on trial with the club in December.
