Six-time world champion Saori Yoshida defeated Chikako Matsukawa in the women's freestyle 55 kilograms final to win her seventh consecutive title on the final day at the national championships on Tuesday.

Yoshida, who defended her crown at the Beijing Olympics this past summer, beat Matsukawa by fall after just 56 seconds at Yoyogi national gymnasium annex.

World bronze medalist Makiko Sakamoto, meanwhile, took the title at 48 kg for the first time since 2004 and her third overall with a fall victory over junior world champion Fuyuko Mimura in the absence of Olympic silver medalist Chiharu Icho.

In Greco-Roman, Tsutomu Fujimura won the title at 66 kg for the first time, while Makoto Sasamoto, who wrestled at 60 kg at the Beijing Games, was left out of medal contention after crashing to a defeat in the second round.

Freestyle wrestlers Shinichi Yumoto and Shogo Maeda both claimed titles for the first time at 55 kg and 60 kg, respectively.
