GOTEMBA, Shizuoka Pref. (Kyodo) Teenage golf star Ryo Ishikawa bounced back from a missed cut to shoot the lowest round of his professional career and take the lead after the opening round of the Mitsui Sumitomo Visa Taiheiyo Masters on Thursday.

Ishikawa had an eagle, six birdies and two bogeys in firing a 66 in benign conditions at Taiheiyo Club's Gotemba Course, leaving Shingo Katayama and Yasuharu Imano one stroke behind. S.K. Ho, winner of last week's Championship by Lexus, shot a 68 while U.S. Masters champion Trevor Immelman opened with a 69 and U.S. PGA player Ryuji Imada had a 71.
