Brazilian Adilson has stepped down as manager of Jubilo Iwata and will be replaced by coach and reserve team manager Atsushi Uchiyama, the J. League first division side said Sunday.

Adilson, who took over the reigns of the three-time J League champion from Masakuni Yamamoto in July last year, has taken responsibility and resigned because of the team’s dismal run of recent results, the latest a 1-0 defeat to local rival Shimizu S-Pulse on Saturday.

Nakazawa howler

A first-half howler from Japan defender Yuji Nakazawa extended Kashiwa Reysol’s unbeaten run to six matches after a 1-0 win over Yokohama F. Marinos in the J. League on Sunday.

Nakazawa contrived to head Tadanari Lee’s cross past stunned Yokohama ‘keeper Tetsuya Enomoto with just one minute gone at Tokyo’s National Stadium and Kashiwa held on to take the points and move up to sixth place in the table.

Meanwhile, Oita Trinita came from behind to win 4-1 at home against fellow struggler Ventforet Kofu.
