Midfielder Yuki Abe said Friday he feels like he is starting his career all over again at new club Urawa Reds and is determined to make his mark following his high-profile move from J. League first-division rival JEF United Chiba.

"I have come to this club with a huge amount of determination," Abe said at a news conference. "I'm standing here feeling just the way I felt when I was in my first year as a pro making my debut." A product of Chiba's youth program, Abe captained JEF to its second straight Nabisco League Cup title last November, but the 25-year-old said he felt he needed more competition and decided on the switch to Saitama.
