The New York Yankees are close to completing a five-year, $20 million deal with pitcher Kei Igawa, The New York Times reported in its online edition Saturday.
Quoting a baseball official who was granted anonymity, the report said the deal is likely to be completed Sunday, pending a physical.
New York won the right to negotiate with Igawa last month with a $26 million bid.
The Yankees have until the end of Dec. 28 to reach a deal with Igawa.
