TURIN, Italy – Japanese speed skater Joji Kato finished second in a World Cup men’s 500-meter race while Sayuri Yoshii and Tomomi Okazaki also made the podium in the women’s 500 on Friday.
World record holder Kato clocked 35.23 seconds to finish 0.04 behind Chinese winner Yu Fengtong, at Oval Lingotto, the speed skating venue for the upcoming Turin Winter Olympics in February.
South Korea’s Lee Kang Seok was tied in second with Kato.
