JEJU, South Korea – Japan and South Korea finished in a draw in the Pinx Cup team competition after Sunday’s matches were canceled due to inclement weather.
Snow and strong winds forced organizers to cancel the stroke-play doubles matches scheduled for Sunday after both sides halved their opening-day singles matches 12-12 at Pinx Golf Club in Jeju Island.
The result left Japan’s record in the annual meet at two wins and three losses with a draw. South Korea won the previous three meetings.
On Saturday, Mikiyo Nishizuka upset U.S. Women’s Open champion Birdie Kim 73-77 and Sakura Yokomine scored a narrow 79-80 win over rookie pro Park Hee Young in difficult weather conditions.
