Ai Miyazato turned in a bogey-free 5-under-par 67 to take the lead after the first round of the Hisako Higuchi IDC Otsuka Ladies on Friday. Miyazato, who is set to become the first Japanese woman to play on the Japanese men's JGTO tour later this year, knocked down five birdies in ideal conditions at Musashigaoka Golf Course to establish a one-shot advantage over Keiko Sasaki. Sasaki had a bogey free round with an eagle and two birdies for a 68.
