Akinori Iwamura hit a two-run homer and Dicky Gonzalez pitched 7 2/3 strong innings as the Yakult Swallows snapped the Central League-leading Hanshin Tigers’ six-game winning streak with a 7-2 win Saturday.

Yakult opened the scoring with Iwamura’s shot off Shinobu Fukuhara (8-14), his 27th homer of the season, with one out and a runner on second in the fifth inning. Shinya Miyamoto added a two-run single in the sixth to increase the lead to 4-0 at Koshien Stadium.

Hanshin reduced the deficit to two runs in the eighth on back-to-back RBI doubles by Shane Spencer and Norihiro Akahoshi. But Hirotaka Egusa allowed a two-run double to Adam Riggs and an RBI single to Tomohito Yoneno in the top of the ninth.

Carp 4, Dragons 2

At Hiroshima Stadium, Kenny Rayborn pitched seven effective innings and Takuya Kimura hit a two-run single to cap a four-run rally in the sixth inning as the Carp beat Chunichi.

Kimura singled to left with two outs and the bases loaded to give Hiroshima a 4-1 lead after Takahiro Arai hit a game-tying single and Kenta Kurihara drew a bases-loaded walk.

BayStars 11, Giants 5

At Yokohama Stadium, Tatsuhiko Kinjo and Hitoshi Tamura combined for three homers and eight RBIs as the BayStars outslugged Yomiuri for its fourth consecutive win.


Marines 6, Lions 0

At Chiba Marine Stadium, rookie Yasutomo Kubo pitched his third shutout and Toshiaki Imae drove in three runs as Chiba Lotte defeated Seibu.

Kubo (10-2) allowed five hits and two walks while striking out five in winning his first decision since Aug. 3. The right-hander became the fifth 10-game winner this year for the Marines, who moved a season-high 34 games over .500.

At Sapporo Dome, Michihiro Ogasawara turned the game around with a three-run homer in the third inning as Hokkaido Nippon Ham snapped its three-game losing streak while handing Rakuten its fifth straight loss.

Buffaloes 4, Hawks 3 (10)

At Yahoo Dome, Hirotoshi Kitagawa drove in the go-ahead run on a single to left in the top of the 10th inning as Orix beat league-leading Softbank.
