Japanese sprinter Shingo Suetsugu settled for a runnerup finish to Yahya Al Ghes of Saudi Arabia in the men's 100 meters at the Asian athletics championships Friday. Suetsugu clocked a mediocre time of 10.42 seconds at Incheon Munhak Stadium, 0.03 behind the winner, failing to become the first Japanese runner to win the Asian title in the men's 100. Compatriot Nobuharu Asahara was fourth in 10.57. In other action, Olympic champion Liu Xiang cruised to victory in the men's 110-meter hurdles in a meet-record 13.30, leading a Chinese 1-2 finish with Shi Dongpeng.
