Japanese speedskater Eriko Ishino set a national record when she cruised to victory in the women's 5,000 meters at the Summer Classic indoor meet Saturday in Canada.
Ishino clocked 7 minutes, 3.34 seconds on the second day of the three-day offseason event.
Yuya Oikawa won the men's 500 meters in 35.31 and Masaaki Kobayashi was third in 36.02.
In the women's 500, Tomomi Okazaki was third.
