Japanese table tennis player Ai Fukuhara, who joined Chinese club Liaoning in April, partnered reigning Olympic doubles champion Wang Nan to victory in the women's doubles on the opening day of the Chinese Super League on Sunday.

Fukuhara and Wang, a three-time singles world champion, beat Zhang Xiaoyu and Li Xi of Sichuan 3-1 and their team won all three matches on the day to get off to a winning start in the league which is played in a best-of-five format with a maximum four singles and one doubles match.
