Jolbert Cabrera hit his first homer in Japan and doubled in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning as the Softbank Hawks beat the Chiba Lotte Marines 5-4 in the Pacific League on Saturday.

Yasushi Kamiuchi (1-0) got his first career win after working a hitless inning in relief and Koji Mise picked up the save for getting the final three outs.

The Hawks rebounded from their first loss of the season on Friday and are off to a 6-1 start to the season.

Buffaloes 10, Fighters 0

At Sapporo Dome, Jeremy Powell (1-1) pitched a five-hit shutout in his second start this season and walked just two in a 129-pitch outing as Orix won the first two games in its three-game series against Nippon Ham.

Keiichi Hirano went 5-for-6 while Karim Garcia and Hirotoshi Kitagawa had three hits each in a 20-hit attack.

The Buffaloes scored eight runs in the first two innings, knocking out Brad Thomas, who lasted only 1 1/3 innings.

Eagles 5, Lions 3

At Fullcast Stadium, Luis Lopez hit a tie-breaking RBI single and Yuji Yoshioka followed with an RBI double off Daisuke Matsuzaka (0-1) in the eighth inning, lifting Rakuten over Seibu.

Matsuzaka, who pitched eight innings in a no-decision outing on Opening Day, was tagged with the loss and Shinichiro Koyama (1-0) worked the final two innings as the fifth of the Eagles’ pitchers.

At Osaka Dome, Shinobu Fukuhara pitched eight scoreless innings and Makoto Imaoka and Tomoaki Kanemoto drove in five runs between them, helping Hanshin demolish Yakult.

Fukuhara (1-0) yielded five singles and retired 13 consecutive batters in one stretch before Yuya Ando held the Swallows to one run on a Yuichi Matsumoto solo homer the rest of the way.

Yataro Sakamoto (0-1) was charged with seven runs on eight hits in three innings of work.

Carp 5, Giants 4

At Tokyo Dome, Takuya Kimura homered and Yasuhiro Oyamada pitched five effective innings as Hiroshima edged Yomiuri for its second victory in a row.

Kenjiro Nomura hit a two-run single off Yomiuri starter Tetsuya Utsumi (0-1) to cap a three-run first inning and Hiroshima went on to take a 4-0 lead after three innings before Kimura’s homer made it 5-0 in the top of the fourth.

Yomiuri pulled within one run in the bottom half on an RBI double by Hiroki Kokubo, a Shinnosuke Abe two-run single and a pinch-hit single by Daisuke Motoki.

Dragons 5, BayStars 4

At Nagoya Dome, Mitsunobu Takahashi hit a two-run game-winning homer off Kazuhiro Sasaki (0-1) in the bottom of the ninth inning, lifting Chunichi to its second straight victory over Yokohama.

Tyrone Woods connected for a solo shot against his former team in the sixth and Kazuyoshi Tatsunami hit a sacrifice fly in the eighth as Chunichi rallied from a three-run deficit to cut Yokohama’s lead to 4-3 before Takahashi’s homer gave the defending CL champion its second “sayonara” victory in as many nights.
