Ai Miyazato and Rui Kitada, who together form Team Japan, finished two strokes off the pace in third place with a 5-under-par 68 Friday after the opening round of the inaugural Women's World Cup of Golf in South Africa.

Miyazato and Kitada were tied with Australia, the Philippines and Sweden after the round played on a four-ball stroke format, also known as best ball, while Lorie Kane and Dawn Coe-Jones of Team Canada and Guilia Sergas and Diana Luna of Team Italy shared the lead at 66.
