Figure skater Yoshie Onda came from behind to win the gold medal after the women's free program at the Winter University Games on Sunday, taking Japan's gold medal tally on the fifth day of action to four.

Tokai Gakuen University student Onda prevailed to give Japan the women's gold for the second time in a row following Shizuka Arakawa's victory in the last meet and her win came after Daisuke Takahashi also emerged victorious Saturday in the men's figure skating event.

"In the beginning I was pretty nervous but I knew that I could win," a beaming Onda said.
