NAGOYA – Kazuyoshi Tatsunami and Kosuke Fukudome drove home five runs between them and Kenshin Kawakami got his Central League-leading 14th win as the Chunichi Dragons stopped the Hanshin Tigers’ eight-game winning streak with a 9-3 victory on Tuesday.

Tatsunami put Chunichi ahead with an RBI double before Fukudome connected off Kei Igawa to give the Dragons a 3-0 lead at Nagoya Dome. In the third, Tatsunami doubled home a run again and Fukudome added an RBI single as Chunichi built a five-run lead.
Kawakami (14-6) allowed three runs and nine hits in seven innings of work. Igawa (10-10) lasted just three innings, allowing five runs.

In Matsuyama, Yomiuri capitalized on a throwing error by Yokohama reliever Takeo Kawamura to score the go-ahead run in the eighth inning for its first victory in three games.
After Yokohama tied the game on an RBI single by Hitoshi Tamura, Kawamura (4-7) threw wildly to first allowing Tuffy Rhodes to score all the way from first.

At Jingu Stadium, Koichi Ogata hit a tiebreaking homer as Hiroshima scored three runs in the top of the 11th inning and held off a Yakult rally to snap its eight-game losing skid.
Ogata’s homer broke a 7-7 tie before Shigenobu Shima and Andy Sheets followed with RBI hits. A two-run double by Atsuya Furuta pulled Yakult within one run but its winning streak ended at five games.

At Chiba Marine Stadium, Hiroyuki Oshima hit a tiebreaking sacrifice fly and Tomoaki Sato and Shogo Akada added RBI hits as Seibu scored three runs in the eighth inning to pull away for a victory over Lotte.
The Seibu bullpen preserved the lead with Tomoki Hoshino (4-3) getting the win and Kiyoshi Toyoda closing out the game for his 10th save.

At Fukuoka Dome, Fernando Seguignol hit his Pacific League-leading 40th homer and the Nippon Ham Fighters pounded out 16 hits to overpower front-running Daiei.
Sherman Obando, Kuniyuki Kimoto, Shinji Takahashi and Tomochika Tsuboi also homered for Nippon Ham, which also got four hits from former major leaguer Tsuyoshi Shinjo.
BlueWave 12, Buffaloes 4
At Yahoo BB Stadium, Yuichiro Mukae and Hidemitsu Saito hit run-scoring singles in a four-run third inning and Orix went on to thrash Kintetsu with an 18-hit attack.
South Korean left-hander Koo Dae Sung (4-8) earned the win after allowing three runs in 6 1/3 innings and Kazuo Yamaguchi picked up his 15th save.
Sasaki plans surgery
YOKOHAMA (Kyodo) Yokohama BayStars closer Kazuhiro Sasaki will undergo elbow surgery in early September and is likely to miss the rest of the season, sources close to him said Monday. The surgery means that the right-hander intends to continue his playing career next season.
