SHIMA, Fukuoka Pref. (Kyodo) Thailand's Thammanoon Srirot shot a bogey-free 7-under-par 64 to grab a one-stroke lead after the second round of the Hisamitsu-KBC Augusta Golf Tournament on Friday.
Teeing off in a share of 60th, Thammanoon stormed to the top of leaderboard after knocking down seven birdies en route to a 6-under 136 total in gusty conditions at the par-71 Keya Golf Club.
Kazuhiko Hosokawa and Masaya Tomida, who shot 68 and 69, respectively, were a shot further back in a share of second, while five others including overnight leader Craig Jones (73) are tied for fourth at 4-under.
Baba starts well
TERADOMARI, Niigata Pref. Kyodo) Third-year pro Yukari Baba shot a bogey-free 5-under-par 67 to take a one-shot lead after the first round of the Yonex Ladies on Friday.
The diminutive 21-year-old, who finished a career high tie for sixth at the Golf 5 Ladies last month, made three birdies through her first five holes at Yonex Country Club and picked up another shot on the 10th before closing with a birdie on the 18th.
Noriko Aso had a 68 that featured eight birdies and four bogeys and sits one shot off the pace along with Yuriko Otsuka. A multinational group of seven players including Kasumi Fujii and South Korean Ko Woo Soon shared fourth after going round in 69.
