Komadai Tomakomai pounded out 14 hits to beat Tokaidai Kofu of Yamanashi Prefecture 10-8 on Saturday to become the first Hokkaido school to reach the final of the National High School Baseball Championship.

In Sunday's final, Komadai Tomakomai meets Ehime's Saibi, the winner of the national spring invitational tournament that came from behind to defeat Chiba Keizaidai Fuzoku 5-2 in the other semifinal at Koshien Stadium.Trailing 3-2 in the third inning, Komadai Tomakomai took the lead for good on back-to-back RBI hits by Yoshinori Itoya and Kosuke Sasaki and stretched the lead to 10-3 after five innings.

Takuya Matsuhashi lasted just 2 2/3 innings in his first start in the annual tournament but relievers Yasuhito Suzuki and Seiji Iwata combined to hold off a late rally by Tokaidai Kofu.
