The Japanese Under-23 team is still suffering from a stomach bug that struck many of its players during last week's tour to the United Arab Emirates in the first round of Asian qualifiers for the Athens Olympics.

"Basically, it's inflammation of the intestines. We don't know whether it's a virus or bacteria that's causing it, so we don't know how exactly to treat it," said Japan coach Masakuni Yamamoto.

Players appear to be recovering after coming down with stomachaches and diarrhea following the Lebanon match last Wednesday, but teenage striker Sota Hirayama and Kyoto Purple Sanga midfielder Daisuke Matsui had to receive treatment upon their return.
