HOBART, Australia (Kyodo) Japan's Shinobu Asagoe missed out on her first WTA tour singles title Friday when she was beaten in straight sets by American Amy Frazier in the final of the Moorilla International on Friday.

Playing in only her second final on the tour, sixth-seeded Asagoe was no match for Frazier, who made up for her defeat in last year's final to Alicia Molik with a comfortable 6-3, 6-3 win at the Domain Tennis Center.

Asagoe was to pair up with compatriot Seiko Okamoto in the doubles final against top seeds Els Callens of Belgium and Austrian partner Barbara Schett later Friday.
