Isao Yoneda took advantage of errors made by the winning favorites to come from behind and claim his first men's all-around title at the national championships while Manami Ishizaka succeeded in defending the women's title Saturday.

Yoneda, a reserve at the California world championships in August, collected 56.575 points at Kumagaya sports park gymnasium in Saitama Prefecture to surpass Naoya Tsukahara, who led until the fifth discipline -- the horizontal bar -- but had to settle for fourth. Daisuke Nakano finished second with 56.375 and Ryota Suzuki took third with 56.325.
