INZAI, Chiba Pref. (Kyodo) Jyoti Randhawa of India birdied both ends Saturday to match an even par and took a two-stroke sole lead after the third round of the 100 million yen Suntory Open golf tournament.

Randhawa got off to a birdie-par-bogey start at the windswept Sobu Country Club in Inzai and pared his next 11 holes before suffering two straight bogeys starting from the 16th hole and capping off with a birdie for a 54-hole total of 6-under 207.

Australian Paul Sheehan shot a 73 to share second place with opening round leader Masayuki Kawamura (75) at 209 over the par-71, 7,155-yard course.

Fudo stays in front

KONAN, Saitama Pref. (Kyodo) Overnight leader Yuri Fudo matched par on Saturday to retain the lead going into Sunday's final round of the Japan LPGA Championship.

Fudo, the JLPGA's top earner the past three seasons and this season as well, birdied two holes against as many bogeys at Taiheiyo Club and Associates course for a two-stroke lead at 207 over South Korea's Ko Woo Soon (70).
