KONAN, Saitama Pref. (Kyodo) Money rankings leader Yuri Fudo took a big stride toward her first major title on the Japanese tour when she carded a 4-under-par 68 to take the lead at the midway point of the 70 million yen Japan LPGA Championship on Friday.

Fudo, the JLPGA’s top earner the past three seasons, collected five birdies and a bogey at Taiheiyo Club and Associates to lead a trio of golfers by three shots with a 36-hole total of 9-under 135.
