NISHINOMIYA, Hyogo Pref. – Tyrone Woods hit a two-run homer and Hitoshi Tamura connected for a three-run drive as the Yokohama BayStars held on for a 6-3 triumph over the front-running Hanshin Tigers in the Central League on Tuesday.
The Tigers rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth but the deficit proved too great in steady rain at Koshien Stadium.
Hanshin’s Hideki Irabu (10-3) lasted a season-worst two innings and gave up six runs to the BayStars, who ended a 16-game losing streak to the Tigers.
