SUSONO, Shizuoka Pref. (Kyodo) Yuka Shiroto carded seven birdies in a bogey-free round en route to a 7-under-par 65, taking a two-stroke advantage over the field as the first-round leader in the Stanley Ladies on Friday.

Shiroto, who finished tied for third twice last season and is winless since her 1993 pro debut capped her round at Tomei Country Club with two birdies in the final two holes.

Rookie Hiromi Takesue had five birdies and no bogeys while 17th-year Rie Fujiwara produced seven birdies against a lone bogey to finish in a tie for second at 5-under 67.
