Unheralded Hiromi Takesue ignited with a 6-under-par 66 to grab sole possession of the lead after the second round of the 60 million yen Belluna Ladies Cup on Saturday.

Teeing off on the back nine at the Obatago Golf Club four strokes off the pace, Takesue birdied five holes before making the turn.

South Korean Shin Sora made a chip-in eagle on the par-4 third and went on to fashion five birdies and two bogeys en route to a 67 and is tied for second place with Hiroko Yamaguchi (70) at 137.

Izawa gains control

TOMOBE, Ibaraki Pref. (Kyodo) Overnight co-leader Toshimitsu Izawa carded six birdies against two bogeys Saturday for a 54-hole total of 12-under-par 201, claiming sole possession of the top spot with one round remaining in the Japan Golf Tour Championship.

Izawa, who shared the lead with Taichi Teshima after the first round, sank back-to-back birdies at Nos. 1 and 2 en route to a 3-under 68 at Shishido Hills Country Club in his quest for his first victory in 21 months.
