Kenshi Kawaguchi and Osamu Hoshino drove in a pair of runs on back-to-back doubles with one out in the sixth inning at Osaka Dome as the Kintetsu Buffaloes came from one run down to beat the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks 5-2 on Monday.

The Buffaloes, who won their fifth straight, moved into a tie for first place with the Hawks.

Akihito Fujii's two-run triple in the eighth gave breathing room for Ken Kadokura (4-1), who gave up two runs in six innings and escaped a one-out, bases-loaded jam in the fourth. Nagisa Arakaki (4-7) took his second straight loss after allowing three runs in 5 1/3 innings.

Lions 5, BlueWave 3

At Yahoo BB Stadium in Kobe, rookie Taketoshi Goto hit a solo blast in the opening inning and Scott McClain drilled a two-run shot off Masahiko Kaneda (2-4) in the following frame as Seibu went on to defeat Orix. The Lions opened up a 5-2 lead in the third on RBI singles by Alex Cabrera and Tomoaki Sato.
