Okinawa – Yuri Fudo, money-rankings queen for the past three years, sank a nine-foot birdie putt on the fourth playoff hole Sunday to beat Aki Nakano and win the season-opening Daikin Orchid Ladies golf tournament.
It was the 26-year-old Fudo’s 16th tour victory. She pocketed the winner’s prize of 10.8 million yen out of the total purse of 60 million yen.
Playing the par-4, 18th hole over the 6,302-yard Ryukyu Golf Club course, Fudo rolled in the tournament-clinching birdie, while Nakano missed her putt.
