Hanshin Tigers infielder Atsushi Kataoka, suffering from an injured right side, will miss the season opener against the Yokohama BayStars on March 28, manager Senichi Hoshino said Monday.
Team doctors said Kataoka, a six-time All Star, complained of pain in his side during a spring training practice on Feb. 22 and needs at least three weeks recovery.
