Organizers of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games on Monday released details of the Olympic torch relay, with Tokyo listed as the third stop of the run after Sydney and Melbourne.

The torch's arrival in Tokyo is expected to be around late May or early June.

The Athens 2004 Olympic Organizing Committee said the relay, which will involve five continents for the first time in a single run, will last 35 days outside Greece and 30 days inside Greece. The torch will be lit in the Greek city of Olympia in May.

The torch will travel to 27 cities, including Beijing, New York, Lausanne, Switzerland, and all past Summer Games host cities. Beijing is scheduled to host the Summer Games in 2008. The Olympic torch will also pass through Cairo and Cape Town, the first ever Olympic torch relay to be held in Africa.
