Sydney gold medalist Kosei Inoue got his comeback campaign off to a stellar start Sunday by capturing gold in the men's 100-kg weight class at the German International Judo Tournament.

Inoue, who had not competed since last fall's Asian Games in Pusan, South Korea, after undergoing ankle surgery in November to remove bone chips in his right foot, disposed of Sydney bronze medalist Iouri Stepkine in the second round before claiming victory in the final over Israeli Ariel Zeev.
