Germany's Ronny Ackermann clinched his first title of the season when he came from behind to win a Nordic combined World Cup meet on Wednesday.

Ackermann, second after the ski jumping leg, put in a strong performance in the 7.5-km sprint on the Hakuba course to finish 19.4 seconds clear of Finland's Hannu Manninen for his 10th overall World Cup win.

Fellow German Georg Hettich was third.

It was a miserable day for the host nation though as Satoshi Mori could only manage a 19th-place finish while Daito Takahashi, Takashi Kitamura and Makoto Masaki were 33rd, 34th and 35th, respectively.
