Former World Boxing Council (WBC) bantamweight champion Joichiro Tatsuyoshi stopped Thai Sean Sor Ploenchit in a non-title 10-rounder Sunday to mark a comeback victory after more than three years.

Tatsuyoshi scored a technical knockout against the former World Boxing Association flyweight champion 1 minute, 10 seconds into the sixth round after a tentative start in front of a sellout crowd of 6,000 at Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium.

Tatsuyoshi, who announced his retirement after a loss to Thai champion Veeraphol Nakonluang in August 1999, improved his record to 18 wins, including 13 knockouts, six losses and one draw.
