Japan may begin negotiations on separate bilateral treaties with Cambodia and Laos to facilitate investment by Japanese firms, a government official said Wednesday.
Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Toshihiro Nikai told a group of delegates from four nations in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations that Tokyo is positive about the investment accord, which will protect and promote direct investment by overseas firms, the official said.
The ASEAN team included Laotian Industry and Commerce Minister Nam Vignaket.
