A man firebombed the headquarters of the Nihon Keizai Shimbun business daily in Tokyo's Otemachi business district early Friday morning, but no one was hurt and there was no major damage, police said.

A man on a minibike threw a Molotov cocktail at the employee entrance to the newspaper at around 2:15 a.m. Friday and fled, they said.

A Nikkei employee heard the sound of breaking glass and looked to see a man in a dark blue jacket and red cap leaving the scene.

Police are investigating whether the incident is linked to a report the paper ran Thursday morning that said the reason why the late Emperor Hirohito stopped visiting Yasukuni Shrine was because he was displeased that 14 Class-A war criminals were enshrined there.

The Nikkei said it cannot comment on the incident because there is no evidence or materials.
