Accenture Corp., the Japanese unit of U.S. consulting firm Accenture Ltd., said Thursday it has established a unit in Dalian, China, to provide Japanese, Chinese and South Korean companies with outsourcing services.

These services cover areas such as systems development, accounting and human resources, the company said. They are available in Japanese, Chinese, Korean and English.

The company decided to set up the unit in Dalian due to its lower costs and the presence of many workers skilled in information technology-related fields and fluent in Japanese, company officials said.

Andersen Consulting renamed itself Accenture in January 2001.
