Saitama: Teppo Matsuri

Gun Festival at the shrine. The highlight of this festival is Otachi Shinji in which two sacred horses gallop up the steps to the shrine, amid a volley of rifle shots into the air.

Schedule & Key events:
● Dec. 7
from 2:30 p.m.: Parade of floats through the town
from 4 p.m.: Sanbaso (a traditional dance)
from 7 p.m.: Local Kabuki plays
● Dec. 8
from 10 a.m.: Kagura
from 11 a.m.: Sanbaso
from noon: Local Kabuki plays
from 2:30 p.m.: Matchlock gun demonstration
from 3:30 p.m.: Daimyo Gyoretsu (a feudal lord procession)
from 4 p.m.: Otachi Shinji
from 5 p.m.: Parade of mikoshi (portable shrine) and floats
through the town
from 7:30 p.m.: Local Kabuki plays

Location: Iida Hachiman-jinja Shrine and others, Ogano-machi, Saitama

Seibu Chichibu Line to Seibu-Chichibu Sta. From there, take Seibu Kanko bus (for Kurio) to Kurio Bus Stop, and then walk 10min.
