Finding the tastiest noodles in Japan is practically an art form, but this weekend all you have to do is head to Kumagaya, Saitama Prefecture.
As many as 30 restaurants will be serving noodles at the Udon Summit festival, whose previous edition drew more than 120,000 visitors.
Helpings of udon can be bought with vouchers, which will be sold in sets of three along with three voting slips. The event will end on Sunday after an agreement is reached — thanks to the votes — on which shops noodles are the best. (Yuki Yamauchi)
