Drum Festival. 54 huge Taiko (literally meaning drums, but these are floats gorgeously adorned with imagined figures of dragons, wild birds and beasts, which are embroidered with gold and silver threads), each are carried by over 150 men who jostle with one another and compete their strength in lifting up Taiko at several sites, so called Kakikurabe, while they parade along the city's main streets beating drums.
